JH HUME/SD End of Monday

(I'll include a link at the bottom to some pics from today, might be easier way for me to upload them)

Many of (y)our students started the day off at "Dawn Patrol", an optional worship time outside, before breakfast. From there it was off to get some great food (I had an awesome personal omelet).

Our first morning chapel was started with some awesome worship of Elohim, I AM, God, led by 330Plan. From there we were introduced to more of the story of the Israelites, as they began their journey through the desert. Jay Johnson (in one of the pics) was our speaker and did a great job. Following the chapel, we went for some "so what" time. This is where God seems to really be working in huge ways. For the guys we go back to the dorms and kind of de-brief and answer some questions related to the talk, that essentially ask: "Well, you just heard this from the Word, 'So What?'"

Then it was off to rec! One surprise for us is that we aren't using the soccer field this year, we're actually on the outfield of the baseball field! For those of you that know, this baseball field has the reputation for having one of the best views of any field in the united states! The kids had a blast and are very involved w/ Spirit and participating in the games.

After rec it was lunch, then off to the beach. Most of the kids wanted to go, so I took them down in the van, instead of making them wait in line for the bus. Scored big points! :)

After the beach, back for dinner and then evening chapel. Another great message from Adam, as we talked about how often we forget God (as the Israelites did so often).

Here's some "Random Thoughts" of the day....

Liz once again helped my buy Aubrie, the main "Hume/SD registrar and everything else person", her favorite flowers (Stargazer Lillies). She takes care of our church in so many ways for these camps.

Free time tonight mainly consisted of kids riding the mechanical bull, and talking w/ Robert, who was in charge of it.

Most of the students are really excited and motivated about doing their memory verses, and not just to earn the points.

I have to make a store run tonight, as I forgot to pack Shampoo, shower Gel, etc...(don't worry, I borrowed some up until now!)

Nancy has made about 3 store runs already, she's an awesome Team Mom!

Both Zach and Justin slept w/ no covers last night..Zach forgot his, Justin donated his to a guy who had forgotten also...Remember we're not in AZ, it was chilly! (one of nancy's trips today was getting them each a bed sheet and blanky)

COOL STORY! One of our 8th graders, Tyler Gutierrez found a wallet w/ $82 in it, at the beach, and turned it in! There was virtually no ID in it, but we were actually able to find the owner (unknowingly another camper from the camp), b/c of one small card w/ a name on it. Really proud of him! It would have been so easy to pocket the money and toss the wallet, nobody would have ever known.

I'm gonna buy a  new Padre hat while I'm here...oh wait, I already did...

Dominic, the leader of the worship band 330Plan is simply one of the best worship leaders I've ever been around

The verses Matthew 7:7-8 keep popping up in my life! In my studying for a lesson about a week ago, then Zach talked about it a couple days ago, the speaker mentioned it, then I turned to it today totally unintentionally during some Bible reading down at the beach...Don't remember what it is? Go look it up!

God Rulz!
